Appy Feet

So, today I went to Appy Feet. I knew when I posted the list yesterday that I was going to have the chance today, which is great, because it meant I knew I’d be able to post an update right away! I went to the branch in Manchester’s Trafford Centre – I don’t think they have an Appy Feet anywhere near Yeovil yet, so I seized the day while I was up North. For those who haven’t heard of it (probably the vast majority of you) it’s a treatment where you immerse your feet in a tank of water, and let Garra Rufa fish nibble off the dead skin, leaving them lovely and smooth.

To start with, I had to lie. They give you a health form before they let you in, asking about pretty much every condition and medication under the sun – and whose health is perfect?? Anyway, I don’t have anything that could harm the fish, or be spread to other people through the tanks, so the only risk was me catching something– a risk I’m willing to take, I’ve never heard of any illnesses being transmitted by fish, so either I’ll be fine, or I’ll be the first and I can write myself up in the BMJ. Win, win.

For some reason, it didn’t occur to me until I put my feet in the tank that it was going to tickle. It does – a lot - but within a couple of minutes you get used to it. Some of the bigger fish can be a bit uncomfortable if they get between your toes, but other than that it was really quite a pleasant sensation. The treatment lasts 10 minutes, and although you have your own little tank, you’re sitting in a square so I was having a chat to some other ladies.

The time passed really quickly, and I wished I’d taken my camera – it was slightly surreal sitting there with my feet in a fishtank, and I’d have liked a picture to have posted here, I just wasn’t organised enough.

Unfortunately, I don’t think there are enough hungry fish in the world to deal with my manky feet, so the heels are still just as rough and cracked as they ever were. The skin on the rest of the foot is much smoother though, so it was definitely worth it. Add it to your list, I think it’s something everyone should try!

The Lupie List

05:07 A lot of my friends have Bucket Lists. Basically, it's a list of things you want to do before you die - kick the bucket. I didn't really feel the need to keep one - the things I want from life changes. Three months ago, I was diagnosed with Lupus, and since then without really thinking about it, I've started making a list in my mind of the things I want to do, I guess because now I know I've got less time to fit it all in. Excuse any bad blogging form, I'm not sure how to use Blogspot yet. D'oh! Bear with me, I'm sure I can figure it out.
